What is the Subscription Management Interface?

Subscription Management Interface (SMI) is an application that allows your customers to self-manage their subscriptions directly on your site. The SMI is a single page application (SPA). This means that all of the javascript code that powers the SMI is delivered to the customer's browser via our third-party content delivery network (CDN). After our code reaches the customer's browser, it starts retrieving data from our servers via Ordergroove-powered APIs. Customers can view their subscriptions, change order dates, and perform many other actions without ever leaving the page. The benefit of the performance of a single page application (SPA) is especially important for customers who are browsing your site on their mobile device. This is why the SMI was built to be responsive and adapts its display to fit a wide variety of screens.

Standard Theme

We know that you already have a ton of work to do in your current role and worrying about the styling of your Subscription Management Interface may not be at the top of your list. In order to help you launch quicker, we have designed a versatile theme that should blend into your existing styling and layout. This theme is automatically activated for you as part of the installation process. The theme comes with several responsive breakpoints which ensure that your customers can manage their subscriptions on desktop, mobile, and tablet.

Customization

The Standard Theme provides a great starting point for you to launch with, but you may want to customize it further to match your site. Ordergroove has provided a suite of tools that you can use to customize the experience and even modify the behavior of the SMI. You can start reading more about this capability by taking at the "What's Next?" section below.
